This mineral group ranges in hardness from 6.5 to 7.5 on the Mohs Scale. 
The word garnet came from the 14th century Middle English name meaning 'deep red'.

Meaning:

Garnet can bring order from settling feelings of uneasiness and revitalize the body, mind and spirit. Garnet has the ability to aid in healing and purify by getting rid of toxins. When going through difficult times it can protect and move you forward by given confidence to the wearer.
